Teens and Young Adults

Most people have never heard words like body-focused repetitive behaviors or BFRBs, hair pulling (trichotillomania), skin picking (excoriation/dermatillomania), nail biting (onychophagia), cheek biting (morsicatio buccarum), and other associated behaviors.

These behaviors are often misunderstood and mischaracterized as “bad habits”, “self-harm”, “OCD”, and more.

If you experience body-focused repetitive behaviors, you are not alone! It’s estimated that 1-in-20 people do too. There is a vibrant, caring, supportive community here for you. Learn more through the TLC website and get involved by attending TLC health education and community programs.
