biography

Laura Sproch, PhD, CEDS has been working in the field of psychology for over 15 years. Dr. Sproch is a clinical psychologist who believes in offering treatments that work, are based in science, and have an end goal (i.e., evidence-based treatment). This means, that she typically takes a behavioral, and cognitive behavioral, approach to her treatment. In addition to treating body-focused repetitive behaviors (e.g., hair pulling, skin picking), she also specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and interpersonal difficulties.Dr. Sproch received her doctorate in Clinical and School Psychology from Hofstra University, which prides itself as a leader in the New York area for its commitment to cognitive behavioral and behavioral training, and evidence-based practices. Prior to Hofstra, she received her BA in Psychology from Vassar College.Dr. Sproch has received extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and family-based treatment (FBT) for anorexia nervosa. Dr. Sproch is a graduate of the TLC Foundation for Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors’ Virtual Professional Training Institute and is a certified eating disorder specialist through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. She has offered comprehensive academic, achievement, and psychological assessments, has been integrally involved in behavioral analysis and planning, and has provided outpatient therapeutic services for a range of mood, anxiety, interpersonal, and adjustment challenges. She has an interest in responsible and carefully planned teletherapy and has published anDr. Sproch has offered training and presentations across the country in a variety of different formats, from academic conferences, to local community practices, to news programs, to Podcasts. She has a particular interest in working to educate both the professional and nonprofessional community about mental health in an effort to improve early intervention and prevention.
