The Johns Hopkins Center for OCD, Anxiety, & Related Disorders for Children (COACH) Seeks Trichotillomania Participants

The Johns Hopkins Center for OCD, Anxiety, & Related Disorders for Children (COACH) is looking for participants with Trichotillomania, or hair pulling, to participate in a study examining the effects of a smart wearable device on an individual’s awareness, frequency, and severity of hair pulling behaviors. Potential benefits of the study include a decrease in automatic hair pulling behaviors and their severity.

Participation will last 4 weeks and will consist of 3 assessment sessions, conducted in-person at the Johns Hopkins East Baltimore campus. Eligible participants must be 18 years or older, meet diagnostic criteria for trichotillomania, willing to attend appointments in-person, and be English speaking.

Participants will receive a $20 gift card for completing each assessment visit (up to $60 in total for completing all 3 study visits), along with a voucher to cover the cost of parking if needed. Participants can also choose to withdraw from the study at any time and all records and information will be kept confidential.

If you are interested or have any questions, please email coach@jhmi.edu or call 443-300-8836 to learn more details about the study and eligibility.
